I’m Nick Murphy, I’m 27 years old based out of Lancashire. I’m a full time mechanical engineer and have a huge passion for motorsport photography. I have been accredited at many events through out the uk and have in Europe. You can see in my portfolio pictures from the likes of Spa classic, Goodwood multiple events, Formula Drift and many more. Nick aims to capture the art of racing and the passion in the sport.

Where did your photography journey start?

The first time I had my hands on a camera was around when I was 10 years old as my old man use to let me use his old cameras and I use to love going to the track or a local car show, I was very keen to keep trying photography, from then on every year we had a yearly trip to certain events like Oulton park gold cup and the odd British gt and BTCC. Ever since then I have been shooting plenty more, since 2015 I bought a cannon 1300d as my first proper dslr and went to every event I could once I passed my test! I then upgraded to Sony mirrorless and haven’t looked back since. Since 2024 it has been more full on with accreditation and getting trackside.

What sort of photography do you do now?

Mostly motorsport and car photography and around the culture of the beautiful machine we all know and love, i love trying to show people different experiences to what they normally experience and see it from my point of view.

What are your other interests?

I’ve got a real soft spot for Diecast, I currently have a collection of a few hundred, it started out as cars I loved when I was track side I collected but it got a lot deeper and deeper! My other interest is that I compete myself in Hill climbs and track days, I’ve had a few at the likes of Oulton park, Donington park, Blyton, Knockhill and the rest etc.

What is your number one goal from doing photography?

My goal is to be safe and enjoy what I love doing and bring people in on that experience whether it’s taking pictures of them working or trackside capturing them,

What is your dream event to capture?

The dream is that one day shoot Le Mans classic and the likes of Rolex Monterey Reunion. I’m pretty lucky that Gridline has already given me one of my dream events in Spa Classic! Which I will return again and again,I tailor to more the classic side of motorsport but still love the modern day sport! My more modern dream would be formula 1 or WEC and showing the world what I can do
