Kaelan is a semi-professional motorsport photographer based in East Sussex, whose passion for racing began at just four years old. Over time, that passion evolved from watching events trackside to capturing them through the lens. Since picking up a camera at 15, he has steadily built experience within the motorsport community, working with teams and organisations across the UK. Now actively involved in both photography and videography within the paddock, Kaelan continues to develop his craft with the ambition of turning his lifelong passion into a full-time career in motorsport.

A little bit about you

I’m a semi-professional motorsport photographer based in East Sussex. Motorsport has been a huge part of my life ever since I watched my first race at the age of four, and that passion has only grown stronger over the years.

Where did your photography journey start?

My interest in photography started when I was around 15. I used to watch from the sidelines and became really intrigued by what photographers were producing. Eventually, I bought my first camera, a Canon 4000D which was very basic but perfect for learning. From there, I started attending events regularly, especially at Brands Hatch, building my skills and getting more involved in the motorsport community.

Since 2020, I’ve been shooting motorsport consistently, working with club-level teams and travelling around the country to different race meetings, which helped me gain valuable experience and connections.

What sort of photography do you do now?

Motorsport is still my main focus, and it’s what drives my passion the most. I cover a wide range including endurance racing, GT, touring cars, rally, and motorbikes.

More recently, I’ve also been working on the video side with Bemsee (The British Motorcycle Racing Club), helping create social media content. That opportunity led to me gaining an MSV media pass, allowing me to shoot trackside at MSV circuits, which has been a big step forward in developing my portfolio.

What are your other interests?

Outside of motorsport, I occasionally shoot other sports such as boxing, tennis, and golf. During the winter months, I also like to branch out into street photography, landscapes, and wildlife to keep improving my skills and trying different styles.

What is your number one goal from doing photography?

My main goal is to work full-time in the motorsport industry. It doesn’t matter which series or where it takes me, I just want to build a career around racing and photography. It’s something I genuinely live and breathe, so turning that into a profession would be the ultimate achievement.

What is your dream event to capture?

I’d love to shoot IMSA events, particularly the Daytona 24 Hours or Sebring. I’m also really interested in IndyCar, especially races like Long Beach and the Indy 500. I’ve become a big fan of American motorsport in recent years, and the racing over there is always incredible, so experiencing and capturing that would be amazing.
