The third meeting of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season took competitors to Snetterton, where scorching temperatures, strategic tyre choices and intense wheel to wheel racing produced another captivating triple header. Across Rounds 7, 8 and 9, the Norfolk circuit provided three contrasting contests as Charles Rainford secured a breakthrough victory for WSR, championship leader Ash Sutton continued his relentless charge with a fifth win of the season, and Gordon Shedden rolled back the years with a defensive masterclass in the reverse-grid finale. With Tom Ingram, Daryl DeLeon and several other frontrunners also featuring prominently throughout the weekend, the championship battle remained fiercely contested as the season reached its halfway stage.
Round 7
Charles Rainford claimed his second British Touring Car Championship victory with a commanding drive in the opening race of the weekend at Snetterton, leading home a strong performance for WSR as the BMW squad secured two places on the podium.
Rainford converted his pace into victory in Round 7 of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, controlling proceedings at the front while a fierce battle unfolded behind him in the Norfolk heat.

The WSR driver was never seriously challenged once he established himself at the head of the field, allowing him to build a comfortable margin as the race progressed and further cement his position among the championship frontrunners.
Behind him, Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram emerged as his closest challenger after making an early move on Speedworks Corolla Racing’s Josh Cook. Ingram dispatched the Toyota driver on the opening lap and settled into a relatively lonely second place, unable to threaten Rainford ahead but comfortably maintaining his advantage over those behind.

Cook initially looked set to secure a podium finish but found himself under increasing pressure from Rainford’s WSR teammate Daryl DeLeon. The Anglo-Filipino driver had made rapid progress during the opening stages, climbing into the top five before becoming trapped behind NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish.
With temperatures placing additional strain on both machinery and tyres, DeLeon spent much of the race tucked up behind the Ford Focus Titanium. Once he eventually found a way past Cammish, his pace immediately became apparent.

Freed from the turbulent air, DeLeon quickly closed the gap to Cook and wasted little time making the decisive move. The overtake secured third place and completed a double podium for WSR, while also providing the young BMW driver with silverware at his home event.
Cook ultimately had to settle for fourth after spending much of the race inside the podium positions, while Cammish completed the top five following a hard-fought afternoon.
Dan Rowbottom enjoyed a solid run to sixth for Cataclean Plato Racing, continuing the Mercedes squad’s encouraging form, while Team VERTU enjoyed further success lower down the order.
Tom Chilton led home teammate Ricky Collard in seventh and eighth respectively, with Collard producing one of the stronger recovery drives in the field after climbing from 12th on the grid.

Restart Racing’s James Dorlin added another points finish in ninth place, while championship leader Ash Sutton salvaged a top 10 result after starting from the back of the grid. Running the Goodyear medium compound tyre, the NAPA Racing UK driver steadily worked his way through the pack to finish tenth and limit the damage to his championship advantage.
While Sutton’s recovery ensured valuable points, the spotlight belonged to Rainford and WSR. The Surrey-based team combined outright pace with consistency throughout the race, converting that performance into victory and a double podium finish to begin the Snetterton weekend in ideal fashion.

Round 8
Ash Sutton produced another trademark recovery drive to claim victory in Round 8 of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton, extending his championship advantage and securing his fifth win of the season.
Starting from tenth on the grid, the NAPA Racing UK driver wasted little time carving his way through the field. The four time champion quickly dispatched several rivals in the opening laps before finding himself embroiled in battles with teammate Dan Cammish and Team VERTU’s Ricky Collard as he continued his charge towards the front.

While Sutton was making progress, reigning champion Tom Ingram had emerged as the race leader after overcoming the early challenge of WSR teammates Charles Rainford and Daryl DeLeon. The BMW pair found themselves on the defensive throughout much of the contest, hampered by running the Goodyear medium tyre and carrying reduced boost allocation following their double podium finish in the opening race.
Sutton’s relentless pace soon saw him clear Cammish, Collard and both WSR entries before setting his sights on Ingram at the head of the field. A familiar battle between two of the championship’s biggest rivals appeared set to develop before mechanical misfortune intervened.
Ingram suddenly locked up and ran wide, with the issue later diagnosed as an alternator failure. The Team VERTU driver initially slipped down the order before eventually being forced to retire, ending what had looked like a strong challenge for victory.

With his main rival out of contention, Sutton assumed control and steadily built a commanding advantage over the chasing pack. Although he later received a five second post race penalty relating to an earlier move involving DeLeon and Collard, his margin at the chequered flag was sufficient to ensure the result remained unchanged.
Behind Sutton, Ricky Collard secured second place for Team VERTU after another strong performance, while teammate Tom Chilton produced an impressive charge through the field to complete the podium in third.

Dan Cammish continued NAPA Racing UK’s strong afternoon with fourth place, while Cataclean Plato Racing enjoyed one of its most competitive races of the season as Adam Morgan and Daniel Rowbottom finished fifth and sixth respectively.
The Mercedes pair ran closely throughout the contest and exchanged positions in the closing stages when Rowbottom was delayed by the stricken Ingram.
Gordon Shedden took seventh for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, with the three time champion also securing the Independents’ victory. His result carried additional significance as it earned him pole position for the reverse-grid finale later in the day.

Despite their struggles compared to the opening race, Rainford and DeLeon still managed to bring home valuable points for WSR with top 10 finishes, while Restart Racing’s Chris Smiley rounded out the leading group.
Sutton’s victory ensured he reached the halfway point of the season having won half of the races contested so far, further strengthening his position at the top of the championship standings as the title fight continued to gather momentum.

Round 9
Gordon Shedden produced a defensive masterclass to claim victory in Round 9 of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton, securing his seventh career win at the Norfolk circuit and capping a memorable weekend for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport.

Starting from pole position courtesy of the reverse-grid draw, the three-time champion faced pressure from the very beginning. Cataclean Plato Racing teammates Daniel Rowbottom and Adam Morgan initially occupied the positions behind him, but as the race developed it became clear that a much sterner challenge was rapidly approaching.

Championship leader Ash Sutton and reigning champion Tom Ingram soon emerged as Shedden’s principal rivals, with the pair carving their way through the field and closing rapidly on the leading Toyota Corolla.
While the Mercedes duo of Rowbottom and Morgan gradually slipped back from contention after mid-distance, Shedden found himself staring at two of the most successful drivers of the modern BTCC era in his mirrors. Sutton’s NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus Titanium and Ingram’s Team VERTU Hyundai i30 N applied relentless pressure throughout the closing stages.
What followed was one of the standout battles of the season. Sutton repeatedly looked for a way through, drawing alongside Shedden on several occasions, but the experienced Scot defended with precision and composure. Despite the constant attacks, Shedden refused to relinquish the lead, positioning his car perfectly and maintaining enough pace to remain just out of reach.

After a tense final few laps, Shedden crossed the line to secure a hugely popular victory, one that ranked among the finest defensive drives of his lengthy BTCC career.
Sutton ultimately settled for second place on the road, while Ingram completed the podium after another impressive recovery through the field.

However, the final classification was altered after the race when Ingram was handed a ten second time penalty for exceeding the permitted number of track limits violations. The sanction dropped the Hyundai driver from third to eighth position and promoted WSR’s Daryl DeLeon onto the podium, completing a strong day for the young BMW driver after earlier success in Round 7.
Restart Racing’s Chris Smiley continued his encouraging weekend with an excellent fourth place finish, while WSR’s Charles Rainford added more valuable championship points in fifth.

Adam Morgan was classified sixth for Cataclean Plato Racing, ahead of Team VERTU’s Tom Chilton in seventh. Ingram’s penalty relegated him to eighth, while Dan Cammish and Daniel Rowbottom rounded out the top ten.
Away from the fight for victory, one of the most emotional moments of the season unfolded when Nic Hamilton was confirmed as the Jack Sears Trophy winner for the Snetterton weekend.
The Team VERTU driver, who had already demonstrated significant progress throughout the season by scoring overall championship points at Brands Hatch and during Saturday’s Qualifying Race, was greeted by an enormous ovation as he stepped onto the rostrum. The reaction from the crowd created one of the most memorable podium ceremonies in recent BTCC history.
In a touching moment, Shedden, Sutton and Ingram joined the spectators in applauding Hamilton’s achievement, with the combined support of three BTCC champions adding further significance to the occasion.
While Shedden’s victory completed a superb drive under pressure, Hamilton’s Jack Sears Trophy success ensured the Snetterton weekend ended with one of the most uplifting and emotional scenes the championship has witnessed in recent years.
