Adam Morgan secured his second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship pole position in as many meetings as CPRL completed a Mercedes one-two in the ‘Race to Pole’ at Donington Park.
Morgan had only previously claimed pole at Rockingham in 2018, but his victory at Knockhill two weeks ago was followed by another qualifying triumph on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit. The result continued the impressive progress made by CPRL with its Mercedes A35 Saloons since the mid-summer break.

Teammate Dan Rowbottom completed the front-row lockout, giving CPRL another opportunity to build on its recent run of strong results. Rowbottom claimed the squad’s first overall podium at Thruxton before four more podium finishes followed at Knockhill, including Morgan’s first victory of the season.
Starting from pole and third respectively, the CPRL drivers immediately found themselves in a strong position when Rowbottom moved ahead of front-row starter Josh Cook on the run down to Redgate.
Cook remained within striking distance through a number of restarts and applied pressure to Rowbottom, but the Mercedes driver held his position to secure second and complete the CPRL one-two.

Cook was then forced to defend heavily in the closing stages as championship leader Ash Sutton closed in with the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus. Sutton had started seventh but worked his way through the field to finish fourth, another solid result that further strengthened his position at the head of the championship.
Dan Cammish took fifth for NAPA Racing UK, leading a closely matched group of cars behind. Just over a second separated fifth through ninth, with Cammish keeping the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport pairing of Gordon Shedden and Árón Taylor-Smith behind him.

Tom Ingram finished eighth for Team VERTU, with NAPA Racing UK’s Sam Osborne ninth. Dexter Patterson continued his recent run of strong results by completing the top ten for Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing.
