The penultimate round of the BTCC roared into life at Silverstone beneath partially sunny skies, setting the stage for another fierce chapter in the 2025 title battle between Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton. The weekend delivered standout moments as Dan Lloyd claimed his first victory of the season, while Sam Osborne celebrated a maiden BTCC career win.
Lloyd Storms to First Win of 2025 in Silverstone Opener
Restart Racing’s Dan Lloyd delivered a brilliant performance to open the penultimate BTCC weekend at Silverstone, claiming a commanding Race 1 victory — his first of the 2025 season — in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Starting from fourth on the grid, Lloyd made a blistering getaway as the lights went out. He immediately pounced on Jake Hill, jumping past the Laser Tools BMW into the first corner to move into third. Ahead of him, pole-sitter Daryl DeLeon and Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Gordon Shedden went door-to-door through Copse, but DeLeon ran wide on the exit. That small error proved costly, as he tumbled to fifth by the time the field reached the Wellington Straight.

Shedden inherited the early lead, but it didn’t last long. Lloyd, clearly full of confidence, wasted no time in making his move. On lap two, he dived decisively down the inside of Shedden’s Corolla at Brooklands, taking the top spot with a clean and calculated overtake. Once in front, Lloyd began to stretch his legs, setting a strong pace that kept the chasing pack at bay.
Behind him, Jake Hill began his own charge. By lap five, he had reeled in Shedden and the pair went wheel to wheel into Copse Corner. Hill held firm through the braking zone to take second place, with Shedden slotting into third as the podium places were established.
The remainder of the race saw Lloyd control proceedings with authority, despite a late interruption. On lap 18, the safety car was deployed after Nic Hamilton’s Cupra caught fire and pulled off the circuit, neutralising the race in its closing stages. Lloyd, however, was unflustered and led the field home in style.
Senna Proctor put in a strong performance to finish fourth, just ahead of Josh Cook in fifth and Aiden Moffat in sixth. All three showed impressive consistency and racecraft in a tightly packed midfield.
Further down, the ever-intense championship battle between Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton added drama to the closing laps. Ingram started one row behind his title rival but gradually closed the gap, eventually edging ahead to finish seventh. Sutton followed closely behind in eighth, with Dan Rowbottom and Adam Morgan completing the top ten.

Lloyd’s breakthrough victory not only marked a major personal milestone but also added another layer of intrigue to the championship fight, as Ingram slightly narrowed the gap to Sutton with two races still to come.

Ingram Extends Title Lead with Commanding Silverstone Race 2 Victory
Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram strengthened his grip on the 2025 BTCC Drivers’ Championship with a superb performance in Race 2 at Silverstone, taking a decisive victory ahead of title rival Ash Sutton to keep the battle alive heading into the final stages of the season.

Starting on the soft tyre compound, Ingram wasted no time slicing through the field. His car came alive in the early laps, and he quickly closed down 2024 champion Jake Hill, who led the opening stages. With a bold and clinical move, Ingram seized the lead, demonstrating both confidence and control. Once out front, he never looked back, managing the pace perfectly to build a gap and collect a crucial set of points in his bid for a second BTCC crown.

Sutton, meanwhile, opted for the medium tyre compound — but the NAPA Racing UK star was as relentless as ever. Picking off cars one by one, he charged up to second place, keeping Ingram firmly in sight but ultimately unable to mount a serious challenge for victory. While Ingram’s win extended his championship lead to 38 points, Sutton’s strong finish was strategically vital, giving him the grid and tyre advantage heading into the final race of the weekend.
Jake Hill continued his consistent Silverstone form, bringing the Laser Tools Racing BMW home in third place to complete the podium after an assured drive.
Aron Taylor-Smith delivered one of the standout performances of the race. Starting from 11th on the grid, the Irishman surged through the pack with aggressive but controlled overtakes to claim an impressive fourth-place finish. Behind him, Charles Rainford and Race 1 winner Dan Lloyd rounded out the top six, both maintaining solid pace in the tricky mid-pack battles.

Toyota Gazoo Racing enjoyed a strong collective showing, with Gordon Shedden finishing seventh and Josh Cook ninth, split by Aiden Moffat in eighth. Pole-sitter from Race 1, Daryl DeLeon, brought his BMW home in tenth to complete the top ten.

As the dust settled on Race 2, Ingram’s championship lead grew, but Sutton remained a looming threat with strategic advantages heading into Race 3. With only four races left in the season, the title fight remains finely poised.

Osborne Claims Maiden BTCC Win in Dramatic Silverstone Showdown
NAPA Racing UK’s Sam Osborne stole the spotlight at Silverstone by taking his first-ever BTCC victory in a tense and emotional reverse-grid Race 3. Starting from pole position — just weeks after celebrating his 200th BTCC start at Donington Park — Osborne delivered a composed and determined drive under immense pressure to secure a breakthrough win that will be remembered for years to come.

From the very first corner, Osborne was forced into defensive mode as the experienced pack behind wasted no time piling on the pressure. Josh Cook emerged as the most persistent challenger, throwing everything he had at the NAPA Ford Focus. Lap after lap, Cook searched every inch of Osborne’s car for a gap, locking up at almost every major braking zone as he tried to force an error. Osborne, however, held his line superbly, demonstrating remarkable racecraft and calmness under fire.

The atmosphere built to a crescendo in the closing laps as the chasing group tightened, with Cook still glued to Osborne’s rear bumper and title contender Ash Sutton looming in third. But Osborne never cracked. As he exited the final complex, the tension turned to jubilation. Cheers erupted from the pit wall as Osborne rocketed down the straight to take the chequered flag and his maiden BTCC win — a hugely popular result among fans and the paddock alike.
Cook had to settle for second, unable to find a way past despite relentless efforts, while Sutton brought his NAPA Racing Ford home in third. Sutton’s podium finish was crucial in the wider championship picture, clawing back a few vital points on title rival Tom Ingram.
Jake Hill produced another strong showing to finish fourth for Laser Tools Racing, just ahead of championship leader Ingram, who muscled his way past Aiden Moffat to take fifth. Moffat eventually settled for sixth, followed by Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton in seventh and eighth. Dan Cammish and Mikey Doble rounded out the top ten after a race filled with strategic tyre choices and close-quarters battling throughout the field.

As the dust settled, attention shifted to the championship table. Ingram leaves Silverstone with a 33-point advantage over Sutton, but with 67 points still up for grabs at the Brands Hatch finale, the title fight remains wide open. The stage is set for an explosive showdown between two modern BTCC greats.
