The final round of the 2025 Time Attack Championship at Snetterton Circuit was the perfect stage for MMT Performance to close out the season in spectacular fashion. Against tough competition, unpredictable weather, and a field of faster, lighter rivals, Clive piloted the Mk8 Golf R to victory — taking the overall race day win with a blistering fastest time of 1:31.732.
It was a result built on resilience, precision, and teamwork — a true reflection of the spirit that defines MMT Performance.
Building Momentum Through the Sessions
The day began with a measured approach, as Clive and the team worked through each session, learning the conditions and finding the car’s sweet spot. The Golf R performed consistently across every stage:
- Warm Up: 5th overall, 2nd in class – 2:10.836
- Attack 1: 5th overall, 3rd in class – 2:10.540
- Attack 2: 4th overall, 2nd in class – 2:09.658
- Super Attack: 2nd overall, 1st in class – 1.31.732
With every lap, confidence grew. The team knew the key to victory would be staying composed, reading the conditions, and timing the final push to perfection.
The Hard Work Behind the Performance
Behind every lap time, there’s a huge amount of effort that never makes the headlines. For MMT Performance, success at Snetterton — and throughout the entire Time Attack season — was the result of countless hours of preparation, late nights in the workshop, and non-stop focus trackside.
In the weeks leading up to each event, the team works tirelessly to fine-tune the Golf R — checking every nut and bolt, analysing data, and pushing to extract every ounce of performance. From setup changes to last-minute fixes, nothing is left to chance.
During race weekends, that same dedication continues. Every session is a team effort — mechanics, engineers, drivers, and media all working together to bring the story to life and showcase the team’s hard work.
“People see the laps and the times,” Clive said, “but what they don’t see is how much work goes in before we even get on track. The team are flat out every weekend — checking tyre pressures, adjusting suspension, reviewing data. Without that, none of this would be possible.”
That commitment extends beyond the pit wall too. The team’s content creator, Millie, has been capturing the heart of MMT Performance both on and off the track since joining earlier this year.
“I’ve worked for MMT for a few months now, with my first show as their photographer back in August for the Time Attack race at Oulton Park,” Millie said. “Since then, I’ve continued to work for MMT as their content creator across their platforms and attended their show days, capturing their special moments. MMT found me on my photography TikTok page and have presented me with endless opportunities since. Each and every one of the team members have welcomed me in with open arms and are some of the loveliest people I’ve ever met — I can’t imagine starting my photography journey with any other team. Each of them work extremely hard, and I can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store for next year’s show season.”
Her passion and creative energy have helped share MMT’s journey with fans everywhere, showcasing the dedication and teamwork that make moments like Snetterton possible.
That relentless drive for perfection — from the garage to the grid, and behind the camera — is what keeps MMT Performance competitive. It’s a commitment that has underpinned their success all season and was rewarded in full at Snetterton.
Weathering the Challenge
Snetterton’s layout, with its two long straights, was always going to challenge the heavier Golf R. But as the skies darkened and rain threatened, Clive knew the changing grip could turn the tables.
“My first ever race was in the wet, and I’ve always preferred it,” Clive said. “It feels like everything slows down — but the risks are higher. It’s more about the feel of the drive, the adaptability, and finding a line that suits your style.”
Throughout the early sessions, the Golf showed its strengths through the technical middle sector — especially in the tighter corners where Clive’s precision could shine.
“We knew we’d lose out on the straights — the Golf is slower and heavier than most of the class — but we made it back up through the corners in the second sector,” he explained. “When the rain came, I knew we had a chance.”
Finding the Edge
As the final session approached, calm focus set in. The preparation from Saturday’s sprint races had given Clive a feel for the car on a damp surface, and he knew confidence would be crucial.
“Before the race I was calm,” he said. “The day before I was in the sprints, so I was used to sliding on the track with cold tyres. I knew if I could make the car feel connected to me, I could push and get better times.”
That confidence showed early — but not without drama. On one of the first push laps, Clive ran wide through Turn One and spun onto the grass. It could have been a momentum-breaker, but he regrouped instantly.
“I tried not to overthink it — just get straight back on. Losing confidence costs time, so I focused on getting back into rhythm. Then it all started to come together. I felt part of the car, sliding and improving with every lap.”
As the laps ticked down, encouragement from the MMT pit wall spurred him on. With two laps remaining, Clive pushed harder than ever — braking later, finding more grip, and linking every corner perfectly.
“The last lap, everything fell into place. Every corner lined up perfectly. I braked later, carried more speed, and it just felt right. I had no idea I’d done enough for P1.”
Victory and Emotion
When Clive returned to the pits, he didn’t yet realise he’d taken the win — until he saw the reaction from his team.
“Coming up to the garage and seeing the team coming out shouting P1 — for that moment, the noise disappears. Every late night, all the risk, every doubt. All of it was worth it. It’s a team win! And this is what we do it for!”
That moment summed up everything MMT Performance stands for — teamwork, perseverance, and passion for the drive.
“This result isn’t just for me,” Clive added. “It’s for everyone who’s put their time, passion, and energy into this car. MMT isn’t just a team; it’s a family. When we win, we win together.”
A Fitting End to the Season
The Snetterton finale marked the perfect end to a season of relentless development and determination from MMT Performance. The Mk8 Golf R — a car that continues to surprise with its balance, control, and reliability — proved once again that consistency and teamwork can triumph over outright pace.
And as the team celebrated in the garage, the emotion of the moment was clear — a shared sense of pride, relief, and joy after a season of hard work, dedication, and countless hours of preparation both on and off the track.
Success at Snetterton — and throughout the season — is proof of what can be achieved when passion and persistence meet purpose. For MMT Performance, this victory wasn’t just the end of a championship — it was a celebration of everything that makes the team who they are: driven, determined, and united.
