Kian Baines, 19, began his photography journey in 2017 after being inspired while watching his dad photograph an event at Donington Park. Within a month, he was shooting his first motorsport event with a Panasonic zoom camera, quickly progressing from auto settings to full manual as he developed his skills in composition and framing. Over the years, Kian has built an impressive portfolio, covering a wide range of events including BTCC, BSB, British GT, No Limits Racing, BEC, CTCRC, and numerous BRSCC and MSV meetings. A particular highlight has been MotoGP, which he has photographed six times at Silverstone.
As he heads into his ninth year behind the camera in 2026, Kian is driven to keep improving and capturing even more exciting content. Outside of photography, he enjoys music and gaming with friends. His dream events include shooting Formula 1 at Spa and tackling his first full forest rally in 2026.

A little bit about me
I’m Kian Baines, I’m 19 years old, and I’ve been passionate about motorsport photography since 2017. What started as a simple day out at Donington Park with my dad quickly turned into something that’s shaped my life ever since.
Where did your photography journey start?
My journey began when I joined my dad at Donington Park while he was photographing an event. Watching what he was capturing completely hooked me, and I felt an instant urge to give motorsport photography a try myself. Just a month later, I was shooting my first event with a Panasonic zoom camera. From learning the basics to moving from auto to manual and improving my composition and framing, I developed my skills month after month and eventually invested in a proper DSLR.
What sort of photography do you do now?
These days, I mainly photograph motorsport—bikes, cars, and festival events. I’ve covered a wide range of championships and series including BTCC, BSB, British GT, No Limits Racing, BEC, CTCRC, and many BRSCC and MSV events. MotoGP has become a real favourite of mine, and I’ve already photographed six MotoGP weekends at Silverstone.
What are your other interests?
Outside of photography, I love listening to music and playing online games with my friends. It’s a great way for me to relax and switch off when I’m not trackside.
What is your number one goal from doing photography?
My main goal is simply to keep improving every single year. I want to continue building my experience, pushing my skills further, and capturing better and more exciting content as I go.
What is your dream event to capture?
My dream event would be photographing Formula 1 at Spa—there’s just something special about that circuit. I’m also hoping to shoot my first full forest rally in 2026, which is another big goal of mine.
Where can people find your work?
