Dan is a lifelong motorsport enthusiast turned multi award-winning motorsport photographer. His passion for racing was ignited in childhood, inspired by watching races on TV with his father — a tradition that sparked a deep, lasting connection to the sport. In 2015, Dan began his photography journey focusing on wildlife, dedicating eight years to refining his craft and developing a keen eye for storytelling through imagery.
In 2024, Dan combined his two greatest passions — photography and motorsport — and quickly established himself in the racing world. He previously served as the official photographer for a BTCC team, capturing the adrenaline, emotion, and intensity that define the sport. From the screech of tires on tarmac to the victorious moments on the podium, Dan’s work brings the energy of motorsport to life.
A little bit about you
I currently live in Huddersfield, a stones throw from both the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales. As well as photography I work as a Software Support Specialist for a HR company.
Where did your photography journey start?
My journey started when I was around 11 when my grandma lent me her Olympus bridge camera on a walk around one of the local parks. It wasn't till around 18 years old I bought a Nikon DSLR and started photography again. Specialising in wildlife photography for 10 years I decided to switch to motorsport photography in the winter of 2023.
What sort of photography do you do now?
I primarily shoot motorsport, be that circuit racing such at the BTCC right up to British rallying. My favourite series to shoot however has to be the BTCC. It's a series I've watched for many years so working in the paddock still feels surreal. I still do the odd bit of wildlife photography when I get the time.
What are your other interests?
Away from photography I'm a bit of a gamer as well as an avid darts player (Luke Littler wannabe). I enjoy listening to music, can range from the Foo Fighters to drum and base. I am also a massive car fanatic and currently have a modified Suzuki Swift Sport.
What is your number one goal from doing photography?
Its a hard question! Conveying the atmosphere of a race weekend is something I always try to achieve at any event. I want those who may not have been able to attend to get a sense of what it was like.
What is your dream event to capture?
Either the 24 hrs Le Mans or WRC Sweden.
